Another U.S. Senator Says Yes to Cigar Democracy: U.S. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia

In a testament to the bi-partisan coalition being built to defend premium cigars from the heavy hand of the federal government, another U.S. Senator has joined the cause of Cigar Democracy as a co-sponsor of S. 1461.

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, has become a co-sponsor of S. 1461, The Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Preservation Act . Senator Manchin is a key member of the Senate Armed Services, Energy and Natural Resources, and Senate Special Committee on Aging.

Rick Smith, President of the West Virginia Premium Cigar Association and with Squire Tobacconists in Charleston, West Virginia stated, “On behalf of all those who sell and appreciate premium cigars, we certainly thank the Senator for his support.”

Vicki Dean, Store Manager for the Tobacco Warehouse in Cross Lanes, West Virginia added, “It was great to have our U.S. Senator come into a shop, hear our concerns, turn around and co-sponsor S. 1461. Senator Manchin came from small business, so he knows how government can ‘make or break’ our future. We appreciate him joining all of the West Virginia members of the U.S. House of Representatives in support of the companion bill to H.R. 1639.”
