Ambrosia Cigars
Ambrosia Cigars began as one of Drew Estate’s most imaginative projects, created during the early 2000s when the company was already gaining attention for its unconventional blends. Unlike traditional infused cigars, Ambrosia was built around a fusion of exotic spices, botanical aromatics, and rare tobaccos sourced from Nicaragua and Honduras. The idea was to take the aromatic cigar concept far beyond the sweetened cigars of the 1990s and create something more complex, layered, and intentionally artistic. The name Ambrosia comes from the ancient term meaning “the food of the gods,” which reflects the line’s inspiration: ancient spice trading routes, Southeast Asian aromatics, and the culinary-style blending techniques that Jonathan Drew became known for. Each cigar in the series uses Drew Estate’s signature infusion process, where the tobaccos are slowly aged with spices, herbs, and natural flavor essences rather than artificial additives. This produces the distinct profile Ambrosia is known for—sweet but not syrupy, spicy without harshness, and aromatic without losing the tobacco’s character. Over the years, Ambrosia became a cult favorite for smokers who wanted something outside the traditional wheelhouse but more refined than flavored machine-mades. Though released in smaller batches compared to Drew Estate’s mainstream lines, the series earned a dedicated following thanks to its unique blends like the Vann Reef, Spice, and Van Reef. Today, Ambrosia stands as one of the most distinctive aromatic premium cigar lines ever produced—an example of how creative blending can push the boundaries of traditional cigar craftsmanship.
