Finding the right cigar for you is always an exciting adventure. But finding those rare gems? That could be a tad bit exhausting and frustrating. These “unicorns” of the cigar industry may be so hard to find because they’re collected privately and remain in the small circles of the cigar industry.
In 2011, Jon Huber, Mike Conder and Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr. of
Crowned Heads tested three blends for their first cigar line, Four
Kicks. After much deliberation, the original blend was chosen and
the other two were put on the backburner. A decade later, the trio
decided to revisit those forgotten samples - with Ernesto’s
favorite being released as a new addition to their portfolio.

The Aladino Classic is crafted at the Fabrica de Puros Aladino S.A.
factory, with tobaccos grown in Honduras by JRE Tobacco on farms in
the Jamastran Valley owned by the Eiroa family. This cigar uses a
Habano seed wrapper and fillers, with a Corojo binder; according to
Justo Eiroa (who co-founded JRE Tobacco along with his father
Julio), it has a medium strength. Its cold draw displays kola nuts
and a faint peppery quality alongside some earthy nuances; lighting
up reveals notes reminiscent of freshly baked soft pretzel.
The Aladino Corojo Reserva No. 4 limited-edition is only available
at certain times and is a small batch cigar produced monthly in
limited quantities by JRE Cigars, the family-run business founded
by Julio R. Eiroa and his son Justo M. Eiroa. Using only the finest
reserve vintage tobaccos, this 'crop to shop' operation never fails
to deliver high quality products with an unwavering commitment to
customer satisfaction.

Although Cuban Rejects Churchill Maduro cigars (7" x 48) lack a
pretty band, their premium taste more than compensates for it. It's
hard to find cigars of such quality at such an affordable price,
but Ventura Cigars made it happen. In addition to its smooth to

for good reason. Behind the brand is none other than Edgar Hoill
himself - who teamed up with Christian Eiroa, former head of
Camacho until their separation, to create choice stogies under the

unveiled a novel line-up in the Esteban Carreras selection. The
Esteban Carreras Cashmere Cigar sports an Ecuadorian Connecticut
shade wrapper enveloping an all Nicaraguan core delivering medium
to full bodied smoke. A host of rich notes including cedar, leather
and spice make for a creamy, aromatic finish; qualities not
typically found on Connecticut seed wrappers. If you appreciate the
flavor profile of Connecticut shade but want something with more

Craig Cunningham of Esteban Carreras arrived at the 2019 IPCPR
Convention & Trade Show with his usual strategy: introduce a fresh
line, but don't announce it until the exhibition began. The
Unforgiven range marks his first foray into barrel-aging processes,
involving both the tobacco and the completed cigars. To achieve
this, he obtained and carved down a selection of barrels that had
previously held Flor de Cana 18 Nicaraguan rum. According to him,
once he was finished readying them for use most - though not all -
of the rum's flavor was lost.
Luciano Meirelles and ACE Prime Cigars have crafted the Fiat Lux in
Nicaragua at Tabacalera Pichardo, well-known for producing Crowned
Heads cigars. The Latin phrase appears in the Bible and translates
to 'Let there be light,' but Luciano suggests that it symbolizes
'enlightenment' when one experiences the complexity of flavours and
introspection during a smoke. Although serious, Fiat Lux offers an
enjoyable experience. The dark, high-priming ACE Prime wrapper
ensures a rewarding draw throughout.
